Bio
Marla Matin has been scuba diving since 2003, has worked as a divemaster on a Southern California dive boat, and is a NAUI certified technical/helitrox diver. Her passion for underwater phtotography has grown steadily since 2009, starting with a simple point and shoot camera, and eventually moving to a dSLR system. She currently shoots with a Canon 7D Mark II in a Sea & Sea housing with dual DS-161 Ikelite strobes.
Marla is a San Diego native, and grew up sailing on her family’s Catalina 30 sailboat. In addition to scuba diving, she is also an avid surfer and ocean swimmer. While she has been fortunate enough to travel to Fiji, Belize, Palau, and British Columbia to pursue underwater photography, her favorite places to dive are any one of the eight Channel Islands off the coast of Southern California. She believes there is no better diving than in a kelp forest on a sunny day, and is extremely grateful for the amazing dive buddies that join her on these adventures. She currently resides in San Diego with her husband and Australian shepherd.
